It’s beginning to get a little chillier in Cape Town and while we’re all hoping for lots of rain in the coming months it’s also a good idea to get your home cozy and snug for all those cold nights ahead.
Here are a few tips to keep the chill out your bones and ensure that your house is a cozy place to unwind and relax.
Throws and blankets
Add extra throws and blankets to all your favourite couches and comfy chairs. They are a great way to brighten up a room and are wonderful to have around for impromptu naps or when you’re just feeling like it’s time to go into full burrito mode with a cup of hot chocolate and a good book.
Heaters
Wall heaters are amazing installations for any home. They use half the amount of electricity that a normal heater uses and are perfect for heating up an entire room. But if wall heaters are not in your budget or if you’re just renting a great little space heater works wonders. Make sure to close the windows and doors to get the room extra toasty.
Candles
While they won’t necessarily heat up a room the cozy, glowing ambience candles create is enough to warm the cockles of your heart. Scented candles are also a wonderful way to add to the cozy atmosphere by choosing scents that are autumn or winter themed.
Fairylights
Like candles, fairylights are a great winter accessory. With a little bit of soft, ambient music playing in the background, fairylights add the perfect touch to the cozy aesthetic.
Rugs
For homes with tiled or wooden floors, adding a few extra rugs are a wonderful way to hold in the heat and keep your feet warm.
Update your bedding
Switch out your summer duvets for thicker downy duvets. Add a warm fluffy blanket and when it comes to sheets and duvet covers, there’s nothing better than slipping into bed with warm flannel bedding. An electric blanket is another great addition for those extra chilly nights and mornings.
