The Constantia Greenbelt parkrun is a free weekly 5km timed run that is organised entirely by volunteers and takes place at Constantia Greenbelt on the Alphen Trail.
The Constantia Greenbelt parkrun takes place every Saturday at 8am from Le Sueur Avenue in Constantia. It costs nothing to join but you do have to register before your first run in order for you to get a time. To register you have to visit the official South African ParkRun website. Note that you will only need to register once.
The parkrun is a fun event that is open to everyone regardless of stamina and fitness levels. The race is not so much competitive against other runners but rather an opportunity for you to improve your fitness and stamina by beating your own time each week. The average run time is around 37 minutes.
The course is entirely run on dirt trails and there are marshals and signs along the way to make sure you're on the right path. You are able to take your dog along with you on a short lead or harness. Children under the age of eleven must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Make sure to arrive with plenty of time to spare as parking is limited.
The event is gaining in popularity with around 560 runners per week with sponsors such as Discovery Vitality, MRP Sport and Dis-Chem Pharmacies.
