Travelling from Hatfield to Sunnyside takes nine minutes through Stanza Bopape St/R104 (4,5 km), and Arcadia takes nine minutes via Pretorius St/M2/N4 (4,5 km). It takes 33 minutes (51,3 km) to travel from Hatfield to O.R Tambo International Airport on the R21.

Climate
 
The weather in Hatfield, as in the rest of Pretoria, is mild and pleasant year-round. However, temperatures tend to drop at night compared to the daytime. Summer temperatures average 30°C between October and March. In July and August, the temperature drops to roughly 20°C, bringing a chillwave.

Schools in the area

Hatfield is well known for the excellence of its educational institutions. Some of the nursery schools in Hatfield are Hatfield Montessori Preschool and Whiz Kidz Academy. Primary schools in the area include Hatfield Christian School, Arcadia Primary School.

Secondary schools close to the area include Pretoria Boys High School and Pretoria Girls High School, both of which are prestigious state schools that have served the community for over a century. Also, Hatfield is a good place for students to live because universities like the University of Pretoria and the University of South Africa are close by.
