Mokopane at a glance
Home to one of the largest citrus farms in the country, Mokopane is located in the province of Limpopo. Originally called Potgietersrus, the name was only changed in 2003 to honour a local chief and has been the home of some of South Africa's finest produce.
A brief history of the area
The Voortrekkers settled in the area in 1852 and it was initially named Vredenburg. The area was quickly identified as having rich, fertile soil and farming of various crops began.
The ancient caves are home to San drawings and you can learn about the early developments of the Anglo-Boer War and more from many local tour guides that explore the area.

Polokwane International Airport is approximately 65 kilometres (55 minutes) away from the CBD via the R101.
