It was initiated with great success by involving a group of dedicated local individuals who simply wanted to come together and make a difference, bringing the spirit of Christmas to Jeffreys Bay.

This goal, however, could not be achieved without you, our holiday visitors and residents. You came out in great numbers to attend and support the fantastic lineup of events.

The Opening of the Season event, held on the 15th of December at the main beach amphitheatre, was the catalyst for the campaign. A live Christmas concert, taking photos with Santa, and the switching on of the lights were greeted with much cheer and enjoyment as Mayor Hattingh Bornman officially declared the holiday season OPEN.

The "Christmas Lights Route" was launched on the 19th of December with great excitement. Before the launch, locals who opted to decorate their homes with Christmas lights were invited to sign up to be added to a convenient map. This map was used by locals and visitors for a leisurely drive, allowing them to enjoy the festive decorations with family or friends.

Next on the lineup was the inaugural "Music and Picnic in the Park" event, which took place on the 22nd of December. The venue was Equilibrium Park (Noorsekloof). Despite a "Level 1 weather warning," perfect weather enticed families to bring their blankets or chairs and picnic baskets to settle in for an evening of wholesome togetherness and entertainment.

The event was jam-packed with something for everyone to enjoy: a vintage car display, a kids' play area, the Spekboom Labyrinth, food trucks, live musical entertainment, enchanting Christmas lights, a live fire dancer, and even Santa arriving on his Harley! There was an overwhelmingly positive response. "Encore!" was the word on everyone's lips! Thank you to each and every person who attended!

Next up on the calendar was the new year's eve lineup. These included a 5km fun run on the beach, a modelling competition to crown the first Mr and Miss JBay Summer Fun and a stunning Dance-off competition. There was a fantastic turn-out to all of these!

Dolphin Beach was packed with a lineup stretching from as early as 06:00 in the morning (fun run registration) all the way through to midnight. Crowds enjoyed an open air Church service, live musical performances and line dancing.

Special guests Geo Marx, Gerrit De Jager, Jade Wood (Magic Whip Dancer), Stephanie Baartman and Anslin Gysman further enhanced the festivities all while families could enjoy the main beach attractions. The new year was ushered in with the climax of the Summer Fun Events, a jaw droppingly amazing professional fireworks show.

We hope that each and every visitor enjoyed their stay. If you are headed back home, please drive safely. Happy new year to all of you. We are already looking forward to the next holiday celebrations!
