Plettenberg Bay is known as a tourist destination. Featuring holiday homes, entertainment and leisure activities and much more, this is an ideal place to invest in the property of your dreams. Keurboomstrand is a favourite suburb of the region. Deriving its name from the indigenous keurboom tree, this area is ripe with opportunities for ultimate outdoor living.

A brief history of the area

Keurboomstrand has a historical past, dating back to when Portuguese explorers were shipwrecked nearby in 1630. They were on South African soil for eight months, thus beginning the first European settlement in the country. The Matjies River Rock Shelter is a national monument that contains artefacts from the San people that dates back to Neolithic times 11 000 years ago. The shell middens at the site have unfortunately been degraded over time but are one of the largest in the world, being 10 metres high, 15 metres wide and 30 metres long.

A trip to Cape Town needs to be planned well in advance as it is a little over a 6-hour drive but easily accessed as a short trip over a flight.
