Verwoerdpark at a glance

The lovely suburb of Verwoerdpark falls within the city of which is part of the Ekurhuleni Municipality. It is perfectly situated very close to Johanesburg. There are three main highways bracing the suburb. The N3 forms a border between Verwoerdpark and Dinwiddie to the East. Just a few kilometers to the north is the N17 and to the West the N12 highway .

Verwoerdpark offers many choices of nearby schools. The Afrikaans Primary School, President Steyn falls within this suburb. The other schools, being Alberton Primary, Dinwiddie Primary School and Alberton High Schools, to name a few. Verwoerdpark is well established and ideally situated close to some of the finest amenities the city has to offer. The Alberton Rugby Club has fantastic training facilities, including a great clubhouse with great food. Alongside the Rugby club is the Alberton Athletic Club, the Football Club and a few other smaller clubhouses. There are also wide open spaces where one can walk the dogs such as the servitude along the stream that runs down from the Alberton Dam. The Alberton dam is another park where one can have a family gathering or a corporate "braai". Just down the road in Second Avenue, is the Alberton Cricket Club, Bowling club and the Squash Courts and Municipal Swimming Pool.

Within the suburb, and pretty much centrally situated is the Rand Centre (Second Avenue) with a sports anchor shop, Super Spar, Woolworths and Clicks. At Rand Centre, one will also find; Crazy Store, Pep Stores, Cash Crusaders, Pizza Perfect and Fat cake City. Less than 2 km away is the Verwoerdpark Centre which has a great a Meat World butchery, Liquor legends bottle store, and a nice place to have a quick meal called Perfect Meals and lovely vegetable shop called Barceló's. Other large Shopping Centres close by, are; Alberton City, New Market Shopping Centre, The Lemon Tree and the Apple Tree Centres. The general price range of properties here vary between R800 000 up to about R2 000 000. Most of the properties are older than 30 years with well-established gardens. There are over 2000 properties in the suburb. Over recent months there has been an average of just over 400 properties on sale in recent months.

Florentia falls within the city of Alberton which is part of the Ekurhuleni Municipality. It is a relatively medium sized Suburb known for wide streets and very established homes. Florentia is bordered by the following Suburbs; Verwoerd Park to the East, New Market to the South, NewRedruth to the West and Alberton North in the North. It is perfectly situated very close to many shopping centres in Alberton; Alberton city, Apple TreeCentre, Verwoerd Park Centre, New Market, to name a few. Also very close is the hospitals, Clinton Clinic and the Union Netcare Hospitals. Falling within Florentia, one can find the Alberton Retirement Village in Florentia and right next door to that, a lovely park called The Alberton Dam where one can walk, picnic and braai. There is also a small petting zoo. The N3 is easily accessible by heading a few kilometres East up Kirtzinger Road and access to N12 and R59 to the North West is very close by. When it comes to education for the kids, there are many options close by as well. Laerskool President Steyn is less than 1 kilometre away and Parklands High School is in Florentia itself. The UNISA Exam Centre is also in Florentia and the Department of Education's Offices are less than a kilometre away. Other schools nearby are, Alberton primary,Dinwiddie Primary School and Alberton High Schools. There are many Sports Facilities available, The Alberton Athletic Club, Alberton Rugby Club,a really a nice Golf Driving Range and the Alberton Football Club all Bordering Florentia. Also bordering Florentia is the Alberton Bowling club, Alberton Cricket club, a Jukskei Club, Bio kinetic centre and Squash courts. The properties are in general having well established homes on approximately 600 to 900 square metres. Most homes are older than 30 years with well-established gardens and pavements. On that note, the roads are very wide with spacious pavements with well-established trees lining them. A lovely place to walk the dog,
