After being an employee at Columbus Stainless for 27 years, I retired in July 2013 and was frightened by the idea of being a retiree and welcomed the offer to join Seeff Middelburg on 13 January 2014 as an Administrator, responsible for residential listings as well as assisting the Consultants with flyers, advertisements, and marketing.
Since real estate was far apart from the steel industry, it has been very challenging to make a change at my age but through perseverance, dedication, and many hours of hard work it was possible to succeed, and I am grateful for the opportunity to be able to contribute towards the success of the company. In 2017 and 2018 I have been recognised with a Merit Award as Administrator of the year by the Middelburg Branch at the Northern Region Annual Awards Ceremony. I have also realised that the saying “you cannot teach an old dog new tricks’’ is not true, you are never too old to learn.
I have a strong sense of responsibility and take pride in every task that I perform, enjoy what I am doing and intend to stay with the company if my health allows it.
