Hermie Vorster has over 20 years of experience as a property practitioner. He began his career in the industry as a shareholder in a major residential letting company. Prior to this, he was in the corporate world, working as a qualified Management Accountant with 30 years in finance of which the majority of these years were on the executive management level.
Hermie’s negotiation skills have been finely honed as he represented United Tobacco (BAT after 1994) in many negotiation forums, including as a member of the SA Tobacco Board. He was exempted from NQF 4 and 5 and held a Principal Fidelity Fund Certificate from inception.
Hermie ended his stint with Just Letting as one of six partners, sold his shares and started another letting company called Only Rentals. This he sold after building it up to fifty-five franchises, feeling it was time to move on. Hermie then owned the Leapfrog Centurion Rentals Franchise, with a sales footprint in addition. This he closed when the decision was made to relocate to Hermanus, to greener pastures and to be near his children and grandchildren in the Western Cape.
Hermie built a holiday home in Hermanus twenty years ago and spent time here mostly during the December holidays with family and close friends. After his wife retired in 2021, they sold their property in Johannesburg and moved to Hermanus permanently in November 2021.
His good friend Edgar Blomeyer, CEO and founder of Gaylin Estates, offered him the opportunity to start a satellite office here in Hermanus. Hermie tried to establish this brand but found it difficult to launch a new brand in Hermanus without spending millions. He decided to call it a day and join Seeff Hermanus as an established and trusted real estate brand.
Hermie adores Hermanus and knows the area well. This coupled with his love for the property game and feeling too young to retire, led him to Seeff Hermanus where he can thrive in the industry once more.
Being a property practitioner with Seeff is the perfect fit as he has the dedication to work for himself and at the same time values being part of such a vibrant and dynamic team. Together he feels they can continue to move mountains in this fierce, competitive market.
In his spare time, Hermie is a sports enthusiast, mostly spectating in contact sports at his age, but remaining fit by walking and gyming. He cherishes being part of the Hermanus community and believes in local business development.
