A retired financial advisor, Carlos joined the world of real estate about three years ago. With his financial background, real estate seemed a logical next step in his career path. Since then, he has focussed on commercial and industrial property.
His strengths lie in his business acumen – he’s good at numbers and he pays attention to the detail. He is also tenacious to the extent that his colleagues liken him to a bulldog when he’s out looking for stock! He keeps at it, visiting sites, asking the relevant questions, gathering information and taking photos for listings.
Over the years, Carlos has built great working relationships with his colleagues, one of whom encouraged him to join Seeff Umhlanga. The two work well together. Where Carlos is great at the behind the scenes work and ensuring documents are in order, his colleague is an IT whizz who makes sure the listings rank well on property sites. By teaming up, they’re able to combine their strengths to get results.
“It’s a competitive world out there and only becoming more competitive so it’s important to have solid listings to elicit calls from interested parties.”
Carlos lives in Glen Ashley, a relatively short drive from the Umhlanga office. Considering that he spends a good deal of time travelling to visit clients and prospective commercial and industrial sites, it’s great to have the office nearby.
At the end of the day, Carlos recognises that real estate is about building a strong database of clients through rapport. “I find that I attract clients who enjoy my approach.” Honest, determined and direct, Carlos listens well to requirements and always aims to provide clients with a number of options.
“It’s been a journey with many ups and downs and so many curve balls recently. There’s a glut of office space as a result of the COVID pandemic for example. As trends become visible, we pivot to do what makes sense. I’m focussing more on industrial property and sales.”
So far, the highlight for Carlos at Seeff has been concluding his first sale. He’s looking forward to many more and the continued partnership at Seeff Umhlanga.
