On the outskirts of Sandton and the inside edge of Fourways, Craigavon was once dirt roads and open veld. Crawford International Preparatory School is in Craigavon itself and is a private pre-primary and preparatory school.  Crawford College is a short drive further north to Lonehill, where children can attend high school. Fourways High and several Bryanston primary schools are all excellent public school options. The esteemed Brescia House girls' school is in nearby Bryanston, as is the Michel Mount Waldorf School.

2. Xtreme Indoor Karting: Also situated in the Cedar Square shopping center is a go-kart racing track that boasts fun for all ages. Individuals or group races can be arranged for kids over 8.

3. The Glitter Factory / Craftageous: Set in the Rustic Timber center, kids (and adults) can paint and decorate ceramics or participate in other fun craft activities. Coffee, light meals, milkshakes, and snacks are available from the restaurant adjoining the craft center. Alternatively, pop over to Picolinos for a pizza once you're done!

4. Bounce: This trampoline wonderland is a firm favourite for a day out or children's birthday parties. There are climbing walls as well as the various trampolines. You can either pay at the door or book ahead. Bounce is in Fourways Mall.

5. Monte Casino Bird Park: This is a unique all-day outing for young and old. There are shows are certain times of the day, which you can sit and watch in the arena... The ugly stork dancing to "Pretty Woman" always brings a laugh. Or, you can wander around through the various enclosures with the kids. There is a café restaurant in the Bird Park, but you can also pop into Monte Casino before or after your outing and visit one of the many restaurants.

Distance to airports, main roads, and the CBD

Craigavon's superb location in the Fourways area means main roads and highway interchanges are easily accessible. The geographic position of Craigavon within Johannesburg, Gauteng means that commuters to the Sandton and Johannesburg central business districts can expect a 30 to 40-minute drive in average traffic conditions. If travelling north to the Midrand / Mall of Africa precinct, it's an easy 15 to 20-minute drive. The Fourways precinct is, of course, on your doorstep if you live in Craigavon. For those heading on trips for business or pleasure, the Lanseria Airport is the nearest to Craigavon, just 17 kilometers away. The major OR Tambo International Airport is about 40 kilometers away, and you can expect a 35-minute drive if using the N1 and M1 highways.
