A brief history of the area

Stretford is situated within Orange Farm. Orange Farm is a township located approximately 45 km from Johannesburg in the Gauteng Province of South Africa. Its name, a misnomer given that oranges are grown in orchards instead of farms, has Dutch origins. It is one of the youngest townships in South Africa, with the original inhabitants, laid-off farm workers, taking up residency in 1988.

Stretford residents looking to reach O.R Tambo International Airport can do so in approximately one hour and 10 minutes (95,3 km) via the N1 Western Bypass and Lanseria International Airport is a one hour and eight-minute drive (74,1 km) via the N1 Western Bypass as well. Johannesburg Central is 42 minutes away (45,4 km) via the N1.
