Wierdaglen Estate at a glance

Wierda Glen Estate is situated in the suburb of Rooihuiskraal North which is situated to the West of Centurion is one of the more established areas with beautiful gardens, open spaces and plenty of trees.

The Estate was developed by ABSA Devco in 1999, and is well known for its security, parklands, reasonable levies, proximity to schools and highways and the fact that it offers a relaxed way of life.

The Estate is approximately 60ha in size. Natural parklands form 10ha in the centre of the Estate and a jungle gym has been built for children to use.

The Estate is surrounded by an electric fence and the two entrance gates are manned 24/7 by security guards. The guards patrol the perimeter fencing and a dedicated armed response vehicle patrols the Estate.

The Estate consists of approximately 408 houses and 354 townhouses. The Estate is popular with the middle class as well as young buyers who want modern accommodation that offers total security for the family, and a safe playing environment for children. The type of properties varies and includes houses, duets, townhouses and vacant land. The freehold stands range in size from 255 sm to 1,500 sm.

The price of houses ranges from R920,000 to R3,100,000(2012) (Average of R1,190,000) whilst the price of townhouses ranges from R730,000 to R1,880,000(2012) (Average of R945,000). There are no vacant stands available in the Estate. The property owners in the Estate are extremely stable as 65% of the owners have lived in their houses for more than 5 years.

The Estate is bordered by the Theuns van Niekerk Street (Wierda Park)) to the North, Nicator Drive to the East, Rooihuiskraal Road (M37) to the West and the N14 to the South.

Due to the fact that Wierda Glen Estate is an older Estate, most of the properties have large well established wooded gardens.

Shopping Centres in the immediate vicinity include the Reds Mall, Centurion Mall, Sutherland shopping Centre, Lifestyle Centre, Koedoe Arcade and Wierda Two Centre. The area also has a number of smaller shopping centres with the usual cafes and convenience stores in the area.

Sports facilities in the surrounding suburbs include ballet, virgin active gym, golf, golf driving range, squash, karate, dancing, badminton, wrestling, pigeon racing, athletics and tennis etc.

The Estate is central to a number of schools including Rooihuiskraal Primary, Uitsig High, Eldoraigne High, Sutherland High, Zwartkop High, Bakenkop Primary, Hennopspark Primary, Springvale Primary, Cresta College, Montessori, and Wierda Park Primary. There are also sixty three Nursery Schools and crèches in Rooihuiskraal, Rooihuiskraal North and Wierda Park.

The Estate has access to many public parks in the surrounding suburbs. The closest post office is the Wierda Park Post Office on the corner of Willem Botha Street and Ruimte Road or the Rooihuiskraal Post Office on Rooihuiskraal Road. The nearest library is situated in Eldoraigne on Ireland Avenue, or the Rooihuiskraal library on Hofsanger Road. A number of Guesthouses (sixteen) are available in Rooihuiskraal, Rooihuiskraal North and Wierda Park.

Churches in the area include Baptist, Gereformeerde, NG, AGS, Christ is the way, New Life, Methodist, Apostolic, etc. The Bakenkop Medical Centre and Wierda Park Day Clinic are situated in Wierda Park and the Medicross is in Eldoraigne whilst the Unitas hospital (Lyttelton) is about 6km from the Estate. The Provincial clinics are situated in Eldoraigne and Rooihuiskraal.

The Estate also offers easy access to the N1 and N14, for commuters travelling by car to either Pretoria, Midrand, Kempton Park, Johannesburg, Krugersdorp, OR Tambo International Airport as well as Lanseria Airport.

The closest police station is the Wierda Bridge Police Station situated in Valhalla.
