Outstanding Four Bedroomed Residence on Exclusive Eco Estate

JOINT MANDATE

This modern home has a hint of Mediterranean classicism about it – a graciousness achieved with the accent on spaciousness, graceful pillars, high ceilings, subtle earthy tints, terracotta roof tiles which all synchronise to produce a building of substance.

The use of solid dark wood is a theme throughout the house, so as we pass under the inviting portico and through the double glass panelled wood doors our attention is drawn to the lofty pitched ceiling, white painted in contrast to the dark supporting beams. It is a hot day and here the coolness is a pleasure.

We are in a comfortable lounge area, where a large wood fireplace with a cut stone surround and a chimney breast rising to the roof, reassure us that in the winter days to come we will be warm and cosy. Our attention is drawn to the dark wood paned doors that lead onto a wide tiled patio, where from our elevated position we are confronted with a magnificent south facing view over the Piesang river valley to the sparkling blue Indian Ocean beyond, where waves dance merrily around the iconic Beacon Isle resort, secure on its rocky outcrop.

Drawing our gaze inside again, we notice the open plan living area follows a near Z shape of the patio and includes a second lounge area around the corner.

Floors are laminated wood planks. Soft uniform lighting is provided by downlighters with some spots artfully lit by pendants.

The streamlined kitchen is to the back of the living area, partly enclosed by two walls and a breakfast bar. The units which line the walls are light wood with black granite tops with an integrated electric stove with double oven and hood. In the background, the neutral floor tiles and off white walls give a restful feel. A central counter has a veg. preparation sink. There is a walk-in pantry. Adjacent is a neat scullery/laundry giving onto a drying yard with an outdoor shower. A sweet feature here is the guinea fowl engraved on the glass panel of the door.

The modest breakfast / dining area, with its built-in table, is adjacent to the kitchen and placed neatly between a pillar and the staircase balustrade.

The extensive roofed patio has loads of space for entertaining: eating al fresco, lounging, and enjoying the view; it overlooks the pool and conversation firepit on the lower level.

There are two en suite seaview bedrooms on this level: both are carpeted, have generous cupboards, ceiling fans and doors to the patio. The bedroom to the left of the living area has a shower room, while on the right the main bedroom has a full bathroom, separate toilet, and a dressing room. The bathrooms are tiled in a smoky grey. In the passage are two linen cupboards.

The door at the foot of the attractive tiled staircase, with its wood and iron balustrade, takes us into a lovely space which can easily function as a self-contained flat or as an integral part of a family home. The neat kitchen has black granite work tops with a veg. preparation sink as well as a double sink. Appliances including a gas cooker are integrated. The kitchen is contained by an L shaped counter and breakfast bar.

A dining area is provided by the patio which is shaded by the upper level patio. Under the stairs is a useful store cupboard.

The roomy lounge gives onto the pool patio, wood braai corner and firepit. This entertainment area is enhanced by the loerie mural on the wall, while the glass pool surround affords an unimpeded ocean view. Floors are laminated wood and the walls tinted in a light grey. The bedrooms are both en suite: one with a shower room, the other with a full bathroom.

Garage space is exceptionally generous with a triple garage accessed from the forecourt where the 16kva inverter solar system is housed, the other a double accessed from the main entrance.

There is a staff flatlet with en suite bathroom.

The mature indigenous garden is designed for privacy with a thick screen of trees and shrubs around the perimeter.
Schoongezicht is a much sought after secure, country estate nestled amid the iconic fynbos of the Western Cape as well as areas of indigenous forest and thicket. The ethos is focused on creating a place of peace and tranquility in harmony with the beautiful natural surroundings. Five dams provide wetlands which attract duiker, bushbuck and caracal as well as a wide variety of birds. A network of paths criss cross the estate where residents can walk in peace and safety.

The fantastic beaches for which Plettenberg Bay is so well known are only a few minutes’ drive away, as is the vibrant, friendly town with its wide range of shops, services, restaurants and schools. This small town also offers much in the way of outdoor activities and sport, be it land or water based.
