An organized home means an organized mind. Decluttering your home can seem daunting and overwhelming but it doesn’t have to be. Here are some useful tips to help you declutter and get rid of all of the unnecessary things you no longer need. Once it’s done you won’t regret it!
Start by tackling one room at a time. Begin with one corner in the room and go through each item, making sensible and unemotional decisions on whether you really need something or not. You’d be surprised to find how many unnecessary things you’ve accumulated that are just sitting in your house because you’ve grown so accustomed to them being there.
As you work your way through each area keep three black bags or cardboard boxes with you. One for throwing away all items that are broken or unusable, one for donating to your nearest charity or pawn shop and one for recycling.
Deep clean as you go!
Fix or replace everything that no longer works properly or at all.
Go through every drawer, closet and cabinet. Remove everything inside and wipe down the surfaces. Once you’ve sifted through everything put back the things you’ve decided to keep in an organized, functional way.
Keep your clothes, linens, towels, toiletries, cutlery, utensils and food items neat and organized in a way that makes it easy for you to find things without having to pull everything out when you need to find something.
Make sure every item in your house is in the room or area it actually belongs in!
The last and best part is reorganizing every space in the way you want it to look. Sometimes that means going out to the store and adding items like fairylights or candles to make the space more peaceful and a place where you can truly relax and feel at home.
