About the suburb of Norscot

Norscot is a small suburb in the northern suburbs of Johannesburg. There are just over 300 homes in Norscot, most of which are freestanding houses. There are quite a few older, large homes in Norscot that are on bigger properties and perfect for the extended family or establishing bed and breakfasts, as Norscot is close to entertainment areas like Montecasino, Fourways, and Sandton.

Interesting facts about the history of Norscot

In the late 1930s, the Erikson Family bought a portion of a watermelon farm that would later become the neighbouring suburb of Fourways.  The Eriksons then built their home, Norscot Manor, in the Cape Dutch style amidst extensive gardens. The name Norscot derived from a combination of the Erikson's nationalities of Norwegian and Scottish. Norscot Manor is now a well-known heritage site, and together with the surrounding land, this area eventually became the suburb of Norscot. The original Norscot Manor farmhouse, in the center of the suburb, is now a  recreation center.
