Poortjies at a glance

Poortjies, Plettenberg Bay, is a delightful little suburb situated beside the beautiful lagoon formed by the Bitou and Keurbooms river estuaries flowing into the warm Indian Ocean. Wherever you live in Poortjies the lagoon is within walking distance, and is one of the few beaches in Plett where dogs are welcome. The seascape changes with the tide, so that at low tide there are pools and shallows ideal for small children to play, and a safe place for children learning to swim. The lagoon is also a popular venue for small boats, kayaking, board sailing and fishing. And while it is a favourite picnic spot for families this spacious beach is never overcrowded, even in the height of season.

Similarly, a few minutes walking will take you to the Market Square shopping centre which boasts a cinema, a restaurant, two supermarkets and a variety of retail outlets. Plettenberg Bay CBD is but three minutes drive away. Plett Primary School is also close by.

Poortjies offers a range of residential properties ranging from reasonably priced apartments to top of the range luxury homes. Poortjies is popular with tourists, offering quality self catering or bed and breakfast accommodation.
