The Greenside Mosque is located on Ingalele Road, off Barry Hertzog Road, which is the main arterial road through Greenside. The Greenside Shul is situated on Chester Road, within walking distance of most of Greenside East.

In the larger suburb of Greenside, you have the Greenside Primary and Greenside High Schools, established in 1940 and 1961, respectively. There is also the Greenside Design Center College of Design, which specializes in graphics design and interior design courses. There is also Laerskool Jan Cilliers Afrikaans School on Dorset Road, Parktown Girls High School, Rosebank Mercy Convent, and Kingsmead Girls College in Rosebank, all of which provide quality education to their students. The Ridge private school for Boys is also within a convenient distance.

The nearest airport to Greenside East is the largest airport in South Africa, the OR Tambo International Airport. Most residents of Greenside East can drive themselves or take a shuttle or an Uber to the Airport, as it is an easy 25.5-kilometer drive. There is also the Lanseria Airport which is 29.9 kilometers away. Another option is to take the Gautrain service from the Rosebank station, which is just 3.3 kilometers away. Greenside East is 7.5 kilometers from the Sandton CBD and 8 kilometers from the inner-city Johannesburg business district.
