Plumstead is divided into two by the Main Road and railway line that run through it. The suburb is home to both young and old, from first time homeowners to pensioners enjoying their retirement. Neighbours are always eager for a chat or a friendly hello while out for a leisurely stroll around the neighborhood or walking their dogs.

Where is Plumstead located?
 The suburb is located just south of Wynberg, bordered to the East by the M5 expressway and to the West by the suburb of Constantia.
 
Things to see and do in Plumstead

Plumstead has numerous small shopping centres including the Pick ‘n Pay Centre, Gabriel Place, The Village Square, Checkers Centre, Richmond Centre and Prospur Centre.

For sporty types, there is the Cape Town Cricket Club and Plumstead Tennis Club, both located on Victoria Road.

It’s always a good time had by all to go bargain hunting along Plumstead’s main road where there are plenty of antique and second-hand stores.

For the best bite to eat in the area be sure to try out Plumstead Fisheries’ fresh fried fish and slap chips loaded with salt and vinegar.

False Bay’s beautiful beaches are reasonably nearby, as well at the Constantia Wine Route, Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden in Newlands and the Maynardville Theatre in Wynberg that hosts its annual open-air theatrical program, Shakespeare in the Park.
