Category Area Focus

Nguni Grill, located in Bendor, is a terrific local stop for braai enthusiasts to experience authentic local cuisine. It offers a welcoming and vibrant setting that will make your visit unforgettable. Nguni Grill serves tasty dishes that reflect Polokwane's rich culture.

 Not your typical braai spot

Nguni Grill has been a culinary haven since 2009, serving a distinctly South African menu with a creative flair. It is not your typical braai spot, considering they put a unique spin on traditional meat dishes in every one of their menu options. If you are a fan of trying new things and appreciate well-presented meals, you must stop by this local hotspot.

The perfect spot for delicious meals

The eatery's name is memorable because it pays tribute to the Nguni people. However, the restaurant is far from traditional because it serves not just grilled dishes but also pizzas and pastas, sushi, seafood and burgers. There are also children's menu options.

The restaurant has shown that a magnificent combination can succeed, effectively combining Polokwane's local culture with contemporary cuisine to create a distinctive dining experience. Nguni Grill serves terrific food and an unforgettable experience thanks to its unique African-inspired decor and historic wood-burning furnace. The restaurant also often has special event nights, such as children's and adult birthday parties, and end-of-the-year celebrations.

On the Nguni Chef's speciality menu

Dine and try the lamb shank menu dish, coated with olive oil and rosemary, before it's gently roasted until tender and golden brown. Additionally, the restaurant provides excellent lamb stew meals that have been carefully prepared and delicately seasoned.

The third dish, Eisbein, is a German-inspired gourmet speciality that is often seasoned and gently cooked before being presented. This dish is meticulously prepared in a way that will have you wanting more. It's slowly cooked until soft and then fried with Nguni basting. Savour the sauerkraut that accompanies the Nguni basting, which may be crunchy or gooey. The oxtail dish, traditionally prepared by slow cooking in an onion sauce and served with potatoes and carrots, is also on the menu.

You can indulge in a bite of a delicious beef cordon bleu sirloin steak wrapped in ham and cheddar cheese, then fried and topped with your preferred sauce.

The last course is enchilada, a delicious Mexican dish with a long and intriguing history. Although the origins of enchilada have long been a mystery, the meal is a worldwide favourite. The enchiladas at Nguni Grill are somewhat unconventional. The enchilada dish is available with basic or spicy chicken/beef strips or vegetables (spinach and feta) and is mainly served in a rolled tortilla with your choice of filling and garnished with shredded lettuce, sliced tomato, and guacamole. You can choose to finish it with rice or chips of your preference.
