Fun things to do at the Assagay Animal Farm

Category Area Focus

If you're searching for a safe and entertaining location to take the kids, The Assagay Animal Farm (FARM) is the place to go. Here children may run about freely in the vast outdoors and get up close and personal with friendly animals at FARM, a children's animal contact farm. 80% of the animals you get to meet there are rescues who are now living life to the fullest and appreciate all the love and attention that visitors offer them. It is also a fantastic educational venue for school field trips.

What kinds of animals are there on the farm?

Numerous donkeys, horses, guinea pigs, chickens, geese, turkeys, tortoises, rabbits, sheep, pigs, and goats are among the animals that may be seen. There are also Jersey and Nguni cows, ducks, and a variety of birds, including peacocks, parrots, and silkies.

What types of activities take place on the farm?

The farm is well-designed, with spacious animal cages that provide lots of opportunities for interaction and a chance to observe the animals in a welcoming setting.

Except for the pigs, visitors are permitted to feed the animals, and the admittance cost includes animal food. Visitors can feed the animals while being closely watched by the farm's professionals.

You may ride a pony, pet a rabbit, stroke a cow, count sheep, wonder at peacocks, and enjoy feeding the animals at the farm. If your youngster is daring, you may ride along with them on a tractor trip to the farm's base. For the brave youngster, descend the hill on a zip-line ride (Foofy slide) and play on the farm's fully-stocked playground, which includes swings, slides, a huge jumping pillow, and many other things.

What's for lunch?

There's a good chance that all the excitement at the farm will wear you and the kids out. You may all treat yourselves to delicious pastries or light café-style meals for lunch at the charming farm cafe, which looks out over the lovely Assagay valley. You may choose to have a takeout and a picnic on the lush, green grass under the beautiful, large trees if you want to have a better sense of the great outdoors and nature.

On the farm, there are basic braai stands, as well as water and electricity. The kids may play with the jumping pillow and jungle gyms as friends and family gather to have a braai in a beautiful outdoor environment. Booking is necessary to reserve your spot. A deposit of R500 is required to reserve and secure your preferred braai area.

Yes, you can have your child's birthday party here

The farm offers a number of party packages for your convenience and guest list. There are 50 children's seats and 50 adult seats in The Shed. There is one table, two benches, a built-in braai, and a prep sink with water accessible for food and beverages. However, you will need to bring your own wood, firelighters, and braai tools. Other venues include The Deck and the braai areas.

Morning parties are held from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., afternoon parties are scheduled from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., and late afternoon parties are done from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

When your visitors arrive, they are free to begin their meander through the farm so they may feed and pet the animals. You will also get the amount of animal food dependent on the number of people you booked for.
