A spear or javelin known as an assagay, most frequently spelt "assegai" or "assagai," was originally employed by the amaZulu. The name of the local farm, Assagay Kraal, served as the inspiration for the name of the village of Assagay. King Shaka International Airport is 59,2 km away from Assagay. Your trip will take you about 43 minutes via the N3 and N2. Pietermaritzburg Airport is a closer 45,6 km (33 minutes) away via the N3.

If you want to meet people from the area, head down to the Lucky Saddle Inn Restaurant at the Shongweni Club.

F A R M is a children's animal contact farm where kids of all ages may enjoy spending time with lovely animals. Enjoy petting the cow, counting the sheep, seeing the peacocks dazzle you, riding a pony, or enjoying a tractor ride to the farm's base. There is also a party venue and a small café overlooking the picturesque valley of Assagay.
