Category Area Focus

Located in the scenic mountainous region of Swellendam is a place that the whole family can enjoy. The Berry Guest Farm is a wonderland of activity, the freshest air and the wonder of nature.

What to expect from your stay at The Berry Guest Farm

The Hermitage Valley is at the foot of the Langeberg Mountains in one of South Africa's oldest towns, Swellendam. The picturesque setting is enough incentive to make a road trip to the Valley.

Suited for every fitness level and age, The Berry Guest Farm caters to any group of families or friends seeking a relaxing time with a few thrills thrown in for good measure. Start off with the freshest berry picking experience which starts at the beginning of November. The berries are temperamental, so make sure you contact the guest farm in advance to ensure you pick them at their best.

Activities for the whole family to enjoy

The Enchanted Forest is well suited to kinds of young ages who enjoy the magical world of fairy tales. With a lush garden setting, there are little figurines of gnomes, elves and other mythical creatures that call the forest their home. Guests are welcome to write a message on the many white rocks that surround the creatures and take pictures to create memories that last a lifetime.

For the young and old who want to have an authentic farm experience, tractor rides are available upon request. This is done during harvest season, as guests are transported around the farm to take their pick of the activities on offer. Marloth Nature Reserve is a short trip away, featuring hiking trails, bird watching and more.

The Berry Maze is an exciting opportunity to test your puzzle-solving skills and sense of direction. Guests can pick berries while navigating their way out of a cleverly thought-out maze that's available for any age to partake in.

Canoeing is a firm favourite amongst those who enjoy being out on the water. There are lifejackets and oars that can be borrowed from the safety shop. The canoes and boats are meant to be enjoyed on the serene dam and are readily available for all simply by untying them from the deck attached to the coffee shop.

Ziplining is one of the most popular things to do on the farm and involves a bit more adrenaline. The longest one on the farm is 230 metres across and can be done for either adults or kids upon request. A smaller one can be set up for kids in The Enchanted Forest during the daytime or for overnight guests.

Kids who are on the younger side can take full advantage of the jungle gym with slides, a zip line and swings. Parents can kick back with a picnic while watching the kids from the pool right next to the jungle gym and Lapa.
