Cape Orchid Society Spring Show

Category News

The Cape Orchid Society is welcomes you to their annual Spring Show which will be held at the Richard Crowie Hall at Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens.

The Cape Orchid Society holds a number of events throughout the year including two annual shows in autumn and spring, greenhouse visits, trips to local orchid nurseries, hikes and social events.

Their monthly meetings take place on the fourth Tuesday of each month starting at 7pm at the Athenaeum in Newlands. The meetings either host a knowledgeable guest speaker or involve fun-filled events such as an annual auction and orchid quiz. Members are also able to display their flowering orchids and have them judged by South African Orchid Council accredited judges. There is an orchid raffle where you stand the chance to win fantastic orchids to add to your collection. Being a member of the Cape Orchid Society allows you the opportunity to socialise with other orchid enthusiasts and access to their established and well-stocked library.

This year's Spring Show theme is "The Potting Shed" and will display a bounty of unusual and exotic orchids. Visitors to the show will also be offered the opportunity to have their own orchids repotted by some of the top orchid growers in the country for only R10. You will be able to bring your orchids along to the show and have them repotted while you take a look around at the gorgeous display and sales area.

All funds raised from the show will go toward the Society’s culture and conservation projects.
