Parkmore is an amiable village suburb of Johannesburg, situated northwest of Sandton's center, near the suburbs of Sandown and Benmore. Even though Parkmore lies in the heart of Sandton, this charming suburb boasts numerous recreational areas and lush parks, including Field and Study Park, George Lea Park, and Braamfontein Spruit. The River Club Golf Club also lies in the Parkmore area and is on the suburb's northern boundary.

Parkmore is mostly made up of picturesque houses built between the late 1960s and early 1970s. While a lot of the 1,000 homes in Parkmore are modestly built, they are by no means small, boasting large gardens that are verdant and established.

One interesting fact about the village suburb of Parkmore is its name, which is taken from the names of two original farms - Hurl Park and Benmore Farm. It was established as a suburb in 1907, being developed by the African Realty Trust, and is one of the oldest suburbs in Johannesburg.

It is an easy commute to both of the city's airports; Lanseria in the west is 25 kilometers from Parkmore, and OR Tambo International Airport in the east is 31 kilometers from the suburb.

Weather in Parkmore

Johannesburg's weather is one of the best climates in the world. Summer temperatures can reach mid-300C, and brief thundershowers usually cool afternoons down. Evening sunsets are spectacular. In the winter months, when it is the dry season, temperatures can fall to single digits in the early morning and through the night, but the sun shines during the day. It is best advised to dress in layers in the winter months.
