One hour from Cape Town International airport and along one of the most scenic coastal drives in the world, you will find the coastal village of Pringle Bay.
It falls within the Overstrand Region which forms part of the famous whale coast/route. This area also falls in the middle of the Kogelberg International Biosphere Reserve (the only local biosphere reserve in South Africa recognized by UNESCO as a world heritage site) where limited development is strictly enforced in order to protect the numerous species of fynbos and the natural beauty of the surrounding area.
The village has registered conservancy village status and no developments of any kind are permitted. The proximity of Pringle Bay to Cape Town, Somerset West, Hermanus and Stellenbosch makes it ideal for day trips and weekend getaways.
Within one hours drive, one has access to the Cape Winelands and their wine tours/routes, numerous golf courses, Table Mountain, V&A Waterfront and the rest of the Western Cape tourist attractions.
The Southern Right whales visit the area between June and November every year to mate and calf .Pringle Bay is also becoming increasingly popular as a location for permanent residence. One of the major reasons for this is the almost non-exisitent crime rate and no informal settlement within a 25km radius. This area is well known for crayfishing with excellent boat launching facilities. The area is also ideal for other recreational activities such as swimming, surfing, fishing, nature walks and hiking, golf, bowls, bird watching, dune sand-boarding and strolls along the pristine white sandy beaches.
Pringle Bay is on the opposite side of False Bay compared to Cape Point, with stunning views of the Cape Peninsula from Table Mountain up to and including Cape Point. Pringle Bay is North West facing with magnificent sunsets over False Bay.
The village boasts several well known and popular restaurants plus local shops, Bed and Breakfast establishments, guest houses, a post office, church, crèche, conference centre, primary school and bakery providing all essential amenities.
The well known Hangklip Hotel is situated 1 km from Pringle Bay. From here you can observe two operational lighthouses at once, Cape Hangklip and Cape Point- one of the very few places in the world where this is possible.
