The main airport in the area is the Pietermaritzburg Airport which is approximately 13 minutes (5,9 km) away from the city centre via Chief Albert Luthuli street and Oribi road. The King Shaka International Airport is approximately 1 hour and 23 minutes (102,7 km) away via the N3 and N2. 

Climate

Pietermaritzburg is known for its balmy summers and chilly winters. Temperatures range between 11°C-21°C in winter and 22°C-34°C during summer. The conditions are ideal for farming certain produce such as maize, beans, sugarcane, sweet potatoes and more. The weather is ideal for taking a drive to Tala Collection Game Reserve nearby and enjoying a day with some of the country's largest game and a variety of birds. 

Schools in the area 

The standard of education in Pietermaritzburg is relatively high and there are many recommended public and private schools in the area. Take your pick (depending on the age of your child/children) from Athlone Primary School, Cordwalles Preparatory School for Boys, St. Anne's Diocesan College and Bisley Park Primary School to name a few.
