Dowerglen is part of Edenvale Central - Please remove and makes up a small part of the suburb. It is divided into various extensions. It is an affluent part of Edenvale that was originally farmland. Over time it has transformed into a sought-after suburb for young families. 

Climate:

The climate in Johannesburg is subtropical. This means warm and wet summers and moderate to cold winters. The average temperature is 19.7°C. In January, it can reach up to 32°C. In July, the temperature drops to an average low of 9.5°C. In the summer from October to April, there are frequent rain and thunder showers.

Distance from Key Points: 

Oliver Tambo International Airport is a 14-minute (12 km) drive from Dowerglen via the R24. Johannesburg CBD is 20 minutes (13 km) via Albertina Sisulu Road. It will take 24 minutes (17.7 km) to Sandton City via the N3 Eastern Bypass and 39 minutes (51,2 km) to Pretoria Central via the Main Road/N1 and Ben Schoeman Freeway. 

Medical & Health facilities

Some of the best hospitals in Johannesburg are nearby to Dowerglen. The closest is Netcare Linksfield Hospital, it is 12 minutes (6,9 km) away. Bedford Gardens Hospital is 13 minutes (8,7 km) away and Busamed Modderfontein Private hospital is 14 minutes (12 km) away. In Edenvale central there is also the Netcare Medicross and the Edenvale Dental Centre. They both provide quality treatments to residents. 

Education in Edenvale

Schools near Dowerglen include Dunvegan Primary, Edenvale High School and Holy Rosary School. Close by is St Benedict's College and Saheti School and St Andrews School for Girls. In Edenvale there is also Hurlyvale Primary School, and Curro Primary and Curro High Schools. 

Shopping Centres:

Dowerglen is situated next to some of the most popular malls and shopping centres. The Neighbourhood Square a social retail and leisure hub. Greenstone Mall, Dowerglen Curve Shopping Centre, and The Verge Shopping Centre. There is also Stoneridge Centre, and Bedford Centre and Eastgate Shopping Mall in surrounding areas.

Restaurants:

Restaurants in the Dowerglen area include Soul Souvlaki, Piccolo Rosso, Grand Slam Sports Diner, and Taste Punjabi. Nearby at The Verge there is a McDonalds, Kentucky Fried Chicken as well as Pizza Perfect and Seattle Coffee. Other popular restaurants in the Edenvale area include The Red Door and The Landing. The Neighbourhood Square has a wide variety of restaurants including Ribs & Burgers, George's Grill House, Motherland Coffee, Kauai, Lattelicious, Ocean Basket, Polpetta, and Paul's Homemade Ice-Cream. 

Special Attractions:

Dowerglen is home to Glendower Golf Course, a highly ranked golf course, offering local golfers a premium experience. Huddle Park Golf Course and Recreational Centre is also close by. Huddle Park offers residents demarcated walking trails, and a place to take your dogs for a walk-in peaceful surroundings. On site there is Futbol, Virgin Active Padel Club, Acrobranch, MTB Trails, Club Street Equestrian and Elements CrossFit.

Edenvale is a popular area for families with its wide range of recreational offerings. In Edenvale central there is the Horwoods Farm market, a food and craft market that is open on the last Saturday of the month, and the nearby Modderfontein Farmers Market is open every weekend. Residents can also visit Gillooly's farm for the Parkrun and for walks. 

Edenvale Central  - remove including the suburb of Dowerglen is an area that has all the modern conveniences on hand. There are some of Johannesburg's top schools in close proximity and a diversity of popular retailers and restaurants from which to choose. This is an ideal location for young up and coming Johannesburg families.

Extensions split Dowerglen, and the area has over 200 sectional title units. There are also freehold properties and new townhouse units. The greenbelt and convenient location make this area a good place to invest in property
