Michael Straker

My name is Michael George Straker, I have over 17 years’ sales and customer service experience in a variety of sectors including recruitment, telesales, sales and the food industry as well as senior management experience. I have great people management and training skills and adhere to best company practices. I am highly motivated and hardworking and always set myself high standards and targets.

I first began working for a recruitment firm as a recruitment consultant in Cape town called Ambition 24, resourcing, canvassing prospective clients, vetting candidates and filling vacant positions for clients in the UK within the nursing and caring industry.

I then moved to the UK to take care of my dad and worked part time as a barmen and then started a commission only sales position with my brother’s startup company, called Ethical Investments. This was a cold calling environment making over 150 calls a day to property and stocks and shares investors in the UK. Offering land for sale for 3500 pounds/acre for land available in Democratic Republic of Congo, Sierra Leone, Uganda as well the UK. Once my brothers company was doing well I then applied for another recruitment consultant position for Korus Recruitment, specializing in IT recruitment for temp, contract and permanent positions.

I spent a year there before applying for a tele-marketing position for Qualifa, where I had to follow a variety of scripts and prompts to forward IT reports to all levels of IT for companies in America, Canada and Europe.

I then moved back to the South Africa in 2013 and began working for our family business Sandwich Baron. I started as a cashier and worked my way up quickly to a junior manager and then senior manager. I managed over 9 of our outlets ensuring customer satisfaction and continuity, handling and ordering of stock, hitting food cost targets and exceeding turnover targets, handling disciplinary matters, adhering to health and safety protocols as well as staff training.

I am currently a grateful addition to Seeff Properties in Edenvale and currently training to become a Real Estate Agent, covering the Berdfordview area, dealing with rental and property sales.

In my spare time I enjoy taking care of my wellbeing by exercising and living a healthy lifestyle. I am also a born again Christian and attend church and home cell groups frequently. I am also a single parent and spend the majority of my time with my 5-year-old daughter and my family.
