Oscars Arc

Category News

Oscars Arc is a dynamic dog adoption organisation driven to inspire dog adoption and save shelters dogs’ lives through WOOF Project.

Oscars Arc is named after Oscar, the adopted dog who became the only dog to ever travel around the world, visiting 42 countries across 5 continents in order to promote and inspire dog adoption. Oscar’s acclaimed travels made him the international ambassador for homeless dogs, raising invaluable awareness for their plight.

Oscars Arc takes healthy, happy dogs from existing shelters and places them at WOOF project, a ‘pop-up’ dog adoption initiative that provides the exposure, PR and marketing needed for them to get a forever home.

Just last month, over four weekends in Constantia Village, 67 dogs were adopted and are now living the high life, bringing the grand total of adoptions to date to 728 over the last year.

If you’re looking for your own canine best friend, simply adopt a dog at WOOF Project at any one of its ‘pop-up' locations on weekends and public holidays. Dogs are also available for adoption at MOTHERSHIP WOOF  located within the @Frits Dog Park in Cape Town on weekdays between 12:30 - 2pm.

All that’s needed is for you to choose your perfect match, complete the dog adoption application and have a brief home check within 48 hours before you can take your new best buddy home.

Oscars Arc operates with a ‘Name Your Price’ adoption fee and every dog is sterilized, vaccinated and microchipped.

When you adopt with Oscars Arc you are also saving a life. All the dogs available are rescued from shelters in the Western Cape, so when you adopt a dog, you essentially save two shelter dogs; the one you adopt, and a new rescue dog that is able to come to Oscars Arc as a direct result of your adoption.

If you would like to get involved in some way without adopting a dog, you can also become a sponsor. Donate anywhere from R100 – R1000 and your sponsorship will be used to prepare a dog for its new home. It covers the sterilization, microchip, deworming and vaccination costs.

You can also get involved by volunteering. WOOF Project offers you a choice of three enriching volunteer opportunities to match your schedule. You can become a Woof Project Volunteer and play an active role in the promotion and adoption of shelter dogs; a Home Check Volunteer; or a Foster Volunteer where you can offer your home as a temporary base for a shelter dog.

If you are interested in adopting a dog from WOOF Project visit their website or Facebook page to view all dogs currently up for adoption and to find out where the next ‘pop-up’ dog-adoption weekend will be taking place.
