Scent is incredibly important in making a home feel cozy and relaxing, a place where you feel happy and at peace. Here are a few tips to help make your home smell incredible without using store-bought products and harsh chemicals.
First things first, make sure that you've cleaned out the garbage bins, fridge, sinks and any other areas that may be producing bad odours.
To clean out drains naturally simply use a mixture of hot vinegar or lemon juice and baking soda, and use tea tree oil to combat mildew.
Baking soda eliminates any foul odours that may be lurking in your home. Once you've got the house smelling as neutral as possible it's time to start introducing scents that you'd like to have in various rooms.
Burn scented candles and incense in areas where fabrics are able to absorb the scent.
Bring plants into your home that produce pleasant fragrances such as lavender, jasmine, eucalyptus, gardenia, begonia and citrus. These aromatic house plants eliminate the need for air fresheners and reduce the amount of stress we feel.
Start baking! Nothing beats the warm, inviting scent of cinnamon rolls, cookies, apple pie and fresh-baked bread.
Get crafty and make your own potpourri, scent jars and cotton ball perfume bombs. All that you will need is boiling water, orange peels, cinnamon sticks, dried flowers, cloves and essential oils to make your own scent jars and potpourri. Soak cottons balls in vanilla essence or your favourite essential oils and tuck them away in various areas around your home.
