Category Area Focus

Keeping fit and staying active should be part of any balanced, healthy lifestyle. In today's age, however, it's often easier said than done. One of Cape Town's oldest communities has been making it happen with a premium facility.

Fresnaye Sports Club was established in 1928 and has been providing the area with the perfect recreational facilities for all ages.

It's time to hit that Grand Slam

Fully equipped with six hard tennis courts (hard courts are made of uniform rigid material, often covered with an acrylic surface layer to offer greater consistency of bounce than other outdoor surfaces.), a bowling green and a lively clubhouse, this sports club has something for everyone. The tennis enthusiast is spoilt for choice between the courts which are open to players at any level. From beginners to advanced players, all share the same lively sportsmanship Fresnaye Sports Club has become known for.

The Western Province Tennis Leagues are involved with arranging social and formal matches with players across the province. You can benefit from interacting with players from different backgrounds and styles of playing. Professional coaches are available to provide lessons for all members upon request and this is included in membership fees.

The grass is always greener on the bowling side

You would be hard-pressed to find any facility that caters to the love of bowling more than Fresnaye Sports Club does. Boasting a full-size bowling lawn which accommodates seven rinks, players are able to get on the greens eleven out of twelve months of the year.

For those who are apprehensive about beginning, coaching can be arranged for newbies and those who need refresher courses. Once you're ready to fire on all cylinders, members have the privilege of playing in social tournaments and competitions. The membership rates are reasonable and there is also the option of paying a monthly rate for those who are avid travellers and aren't in the lovely city of Fresnaye for too long in the year.

As a social sport. Bowls are a ton of fun. It's a game that incorporates coordination, skill and a bit of luck. Any age group can play as it isn't a strenuous activity that requires a lof physical strength. Fitness levels are judged according to how much fun you're having, which makes it the perfect sport to include children of young ages and their grandparents.

Bowls are a popular team-building sport and the greens can be hired out for corporate events or private functions. Host an unforgettable get-together in the scenic settings of the mountains or plan a casual braai celebration for birthdays and special occasions in true South African fashion.
