Feng shui your home

Category News

The ancient Chinese spatial laws of feng shui are all about creating a healthy and happy house. Here are a few tips to create harmony in your home.

Slow down the energy flow

If there is a direct line of sight between your front door and back door it means that energy will move through your house too quickly. Counteract this with a patterned rug, artwork or a round entry table to slow the energy down.

Your front door represents wealth so it’s important to keep your door in perfect condition and to draw energy towards it by placing a plant near it.

Declutter

Clutter weighs us down emotionally and stops us from having clarity of thought. Get rid of the clutter to feel lighter and bring about a sense of inner calm.

Bring balance into your home

Balancing the five elements of earth, wood, fire, water and metal in your home will have a direct effect on how those elements affect you emotionally.

Light and breezy

Allow as much natural light as possible in your home and enhance it by using mirrors. It is also essential to have fresh air in your home. Do this by opening your windows often and having a number of air-purifying plants.

Bedroom

It is ideal for your bed to be diagonally across the room from the door. While this position may not always be possible it is essential that you can at least see the door while you’re lying in bed.

For restful sleep, your bedroom should be filled with light neutral tones and your bed should be positioned with the headboard against a solid wall.

Bathroom

Water represents wealth and your bathroom is where this energy is drained. Keep your bathroom door closed and your toilet lid down.

Kitchen

Your sink and oven should not be opposite one another as it can create negative energy in your home as a result of water and fire clashing.

Furniture

Be sure not to block any doors with your furniture and allow space between everything in order for energy to flow freely.
