Category News

The Cape Town Science Centre is a children’s museum for all ages that features over 250 interactive exhibits and puzzles.

This not-for-profit centre seeks to improve science literacy in South Africa. The massive variety of interactive displays include the Murray and Roberts Building Site where children are able to build their own house; Mindball, where kids can move a ball around with the power of their brain waves; the WCED Inflatable Planetarium; the human gyroscope, where kids are able to float around in a low-gravity environment; and the Audio Kinetic Sculpture where it’s possible for you to see and hear science.

In addition to the displays there are also science shows, workshops, holiday programmes, science camps, science theatre, travelling exhibitions, hands-on experiments, excursions, experiential driven programmes, Saturday learner enrichment school, robotics workshops & tournaments, chess workshops & tournaments, Science Out Loud popular science talks, maths and science exam preparation lessons, educator enrichment workshops & educator forums, computer courses, and mini-exhibitions on topical science events.

At the CTSC there is also a privately run coffee shop called iCafe that offers a selection of light meals and beverages. The café is an experiment in itself, addressing the skills shortage amongst disenfranchised youth and giving young entrepreneurs the opportunity to gain experience working in the food and beverage industry.

The CTSC also hosts birthday parties at the “Partycle”. The venue can accommodate up to 40 people.
