Plettenberg Bay in the Western Cape never ceases to amaze with the abundance of special attractions on offer in the area. An experience of a lifetime awaits as you embark on your journey to swim with seals.

Situated on the Robberg Nature Reserve, which is a 10-minute boat ride from Plettenberg Bay's main beach, is the friendliest seal colony waiting for your arrival. Expect the Brown Fur seals to come bounding toward you with a welcoming approach as their excitement to play matches yours.

Over 6000 Brown Fur seals reside within the colony and are known as some of the gentlest underwater mammals.

Anyone can participate in this seal swimming adventure with no prior experience necessary. Children younger than six years old will be able to view the seals from the boat while children older than six years old need to be able to swim confidently.

What to expect on your seal swimming adventure

This amazing activity is an awesome adventure from the word go. First, you arrive at the main beach and meet the team 30 minutes beforehand to fill in all the paperwork and receive your provided equipment. Then you head out to the boat for an adrenaline-pumping beach launch into the sea, followed by an incredible boat ride along the scenic coastline to the Cape fur seal colony.

When you arrive, you'll be welcomed by the Brown Fur seals who will want you to join them in the water. They may even tug at your wet suit or equipment to get your attention, just don't tug back as it may frighten them.

There you will get to snorkel and interact with the ocean's most loved characters and see them playfully swimming in their natural environment, providing a truly extraordinary experience.
