This seaside picture perfect town with it's white walled houses lies about 19 km from Vredenburg, and the same distance in the opposite direction to Saldanha. Coming down the hill approaching Jacobsbaai, it looks like a post card picture. This high priced haven for professionals has (mostly) beautiful thatch roof houses, and white wall- or sand stone finishes that fit in perfectly with the rural seaside village image of the town.
There are only a few coffee shops on the edges of the town, but no shops or trading is allowed in the town itself. Guest houses abound, and self catering establishments bring in much needed revenue for the area. The hospitals, businesses, petrol stations and job opportunities are located at the West Coast Mall, and Vredenburg or Saldanha, which are only about 19km away.
The beautiful scenery (of the open sea and long white sandy beaches) is only one of its many charms and the houses and buildings have to adhere to a strict building code in order to ensure that the town's appeal stays the same for many years to come.
