Prestondale, Umhlanga

Prestondale is one of the suburbs that was established early on in what is now the thriving hub of Umhlanga. A quiet and secluded neighbourhood, Prestondale is primarily residential, consisting mostly of freestanding, single-storey homes. 

It lies adjacent to the suburbs of Izinga and Umhlanga Ridge New Town Centre, and just minutes away from the iconic Umhlanga coastline and Umhlanga Village with all the restaurants and entertainment you could ask for. Prestondale benefits from its location in Umhlanga with its thriving local and national businesses and with flourishing office parks.

Being so close to Umhlanga, Prestondale offers quick and easy access to the stunning Umhlanga beaches; paradise for beachgoers, who can relax on the sand or swim in the ocean, as well as surf, kiteboard, snorkel, deep sea fish or scan the ocean for whales and dolphins.
The uMhlanga Promenade with the ocean on one side and lush, indigenous vegetation on the other, is a favourite with walkers and runners, while the landmark lighthouse and Oyster Box Hotel are also hotspots for tourists and locals alike.

Good restaurants are plentiful in the area as are the shopping complexes; the biggest being the Gateway Theatre of Shopping. There, you can shop 'til you drop and find entertainment that is second to none. Catch a movie, visit Electric Avenue for some hair-raising rides, action bowling or arcade games. Climb the walls (seriously!) or enjoy family funfair rides. The Crescent Shopping Centre and La Lucia Mall are also nearby. 
There are plenty of health care options available with both the Netcare Umhlanga Hospital and the Busamed Gateway Private Hospital in the immediate vicinity, and the Life Health Care hospital in Mount Edgecombe.

The area also offers a number of good schools, both private and government, ranging from pre-school to high school and including Reddam College, Atholton Primary and  Umhlanga Pre-Primary. Crawford La Lucia is one of the top schools in the area with classes for pre-schoolers through to high school students. There is also a Montessori Life Pre-School nearby.
