A brief history of the area

The name of this town originated from the Patron Saint of Sailors. A Portuguese sailor sighted this stretch of coastline in 1575. The town became a fishing village and the development of St Francis Bay began with the addition of a Marina. Mediterranean-style architecture was introduced and many new developments began springing up in a similar fashion. 

A commercial harbour and Port were built in 1995 and are an important source of industry for long-line fishing, calamari and more.
