Kwa-Thema is a suburb South-West of Springs in the Ekurhuleni district of Gauteng and was established in 1951. Today expanding and thriving suburb. Kwa-Thema was named after Selope Thema. Kwa-Thema is a multicultural suburb where most of South Africa's eleven official languages are spoken but the predominant languages are Sotho and Zulu. Kwa-Thema has also given birth to many successful individuals who have helped in the development of the suburb.

The Historical landmark and heritage park site Ndaba Tree is also located in Kwa-Thema there are regular family and community gatherings in this lovely park with styled stone tables and benches which make it ideal for a family outing in the fresh air. The Indaba tree is a venue famous for the role it played as a meeting place when Kwa-Thema was first established.

Kwa -Thema also boasts the following educational institutions in and around the various extensions; Theo-Twala Primary School, Langaville Secondary School, Phulong Secondary School, Kenneth Masekela Secondary School, Ntokozweni Primary School, Phelang School, Ekurhuleni East TVET College, and Kwa-Thema Skills School.

The sports enthusiast is also not left out as Kwa-Thema proudly features its very own Stadium which is ideal for sporting events and gatherings. The multi-use stadium is currently used for football matches and is the home venue for Valencia FC and the ABC Motsepe League.
