Embalenhle is a township which was established in the 1970's. Serving as a neighbouring rural area to Secunda. It is 19,65 square kilometres, in comparison to the larger town of Secunda which is 173,7 square kilometres. Both are found on what is known as the energy belt of South Africa. Secunda Synfuels Operations which is based in Secunda, receives coal from five mines in Mpumalanga, and produces 160,000 barrels of fuel from coal every day. Many of the houses in Embalenhle were constructed by Sasol for its workers.

Embalenhle is 21 minutes (16.8 km) from Secunda. One hour and thirty-four minutes (129 km) from Johannesburg via the N17. One hour and twenty-one minutes to Witbank via the R547 and forty-five minutes to Bethal. It is 122 km to Oliver Tambo International Airport and two hours and five minutes to the centre of Pretoria.

Embalenhle is situated at an elevation of 1571.12 meters above sea level. It has a temperate highland climate with warm moderate but dry winters. The annual temperature is 21.41ºC, which is 0,19% higher than South Africa's average.

There are a few schools in Embalenhle, these include Kiriyatswane Secondary School, Thomas Nhlabathi Secondary School, and Shapeve Primary School. There is also Sizwkele Secondary School a High School in Kubeka street. Primary Schools include Vukuzithathe Primary School and Secunda College. 

Shopping Centres

There is the mall@emba in Embalenhle Avenue, and the Ekhaya Mall is on the corner of the R580 and the R546. Shops in the area include Pick a Pay, Shoprite, Boxer Store, Roots, Pep, and Ackermans. Nedbank, Absa and Capitec also have branches in the mall.

The next closest shops for Embalenhle residents are in Secunda, which has over 90 major retailers, including Game, Checkers and Dischem.

In Embalenhle in Joe Malhuba Street you will find Ncovu Shisanyama Bar & Grill. The famous Breeze Restaurant is a local favourite. There is also Skhosi Lifestyle, Chicken Licken and KFC for takeaway meals. There are many restaurants in the surrounding areas of Embalanhle. These include the Grub House Diner, a Hamburger restaurant in Terra Nova. In the larger Secunda Mall which is only 10km away, and 19 minutes by taxi, there are many well-known restaurants. These include the Oregon Spur, Ocean Basket, and Crawdaddy's Pub & Co.

Medical and Health Practitioners

There are numerous medical practitioners in medical clinics in the area, like the Unjani Clinic. There are various general practitioners available to residents - Dr Phetla, Dr Geyser. The closest hospital is Evander Hospital, a government hospital that is open 24 hours. It will take 26 minutes to get to the Mediclinic Highveld Hospital in Trichardt.

The Sasol Club in Embalenhle offers all sorts of sports and events.

The Vinkedam / Hamerkopdam, is a 6.1 km loop trail near Secunda, considered moderately challenging. There is also Eendjie Eilandpark in Secunda. In addition, the popular Lake Umuzi Waterfront with its AquaZone Waterpark and mini golf is only 18 minutes (14.1 km) away. Bethal dam is 46 minutes away. Graceland Casino and Country Club is only 10 minutes away. And there are various guest houses in the area.

The Kgomo Development in Embalenhle is a low-cost housing development that offers affordable housing.
