It lies in a straight line, 1,260 km from Cape Town and is known for its history, railway line and the Escombe Football Club. A brief history of the area

Escombe was named after Sir Harry Escombe, who was born in London and emigrated to South Africa in 1859. In 1860, he established himself in the Colony of Natal as a successful lawyer. Escombe was briefly the prime minister of the colony in 1897 before he died two years later.

King Shaka International Airport is 42,3 km (roughly 37 minutes) away from Escombe via the N2 freeway. Residents looking to soak up the sun at the beach will reach their destination via the N3 within 21 minutes (18,3 km).
