Sterpark Area Information

Sterpark at a glance

Sterpark is a lovely suburb that borders the area of Bendor and Fauna Park.  The area is well established and has normal sized houses and modern bigger houses. The stand sizes in this area range from 1200 - 1500 sqm. There are big stands available, especially if you want bigger yard space for family.

You will notice when you drive through Sterpark that all the street names are those derived from stars. The suburb is a very popular residential area within Polokwane.

Schools and Education

There are no Primary or High Schools in the suburb itself, but there are three Pre-Primary Schools. These are Wonderland Pre-School & Foundation Phase, Trevor's Haven Pre-School, Creche & Aftercare and Jungle Buddies Pre-School. Located just outside the border of Sterpark, you will find Laerskool Pietersburg Oos, one of the popular Primary Schools in Polokwane, as well as Osieteddies Kleuterskool (Pre-School).

General Piet Joubert High School, a specialized school in Polokwane, is located just a few hundred meters away from the suburb. One of the leading Private Schools, Curro Heuwelkruin, is around 5 km from the suburb. You will also find PEPPS Polokwane Preparatory School and College, a popular Private School, being around 4,5 km from this area.

Shopping and Recreation

There are no shops located in Sterpark itself, but Savannah Mall, which is one of the popular malls within Polokwane, is around 400 m from the suburb. This mall was finished in 1997 and was a landmark when it opened for Polokwane. Shops housed in Savannah Mall include Checkers, Pick n Pay, Woolworths, Clicks, Dis-Chem and a banking hall.

Also bordering the area is Baobab Gardens, a new commercial area that is located in the busiest and fastest expanding part of Polokwane. Here you will find businesses such as Toyota, Land Rover, Jaguar, Tiles Africa, CTM and FNB.

Thornhill Shopping Center is located 1 km from Sterpark with shops such as SuperSpar, Clicks, Sportmans Warehouse and Food Lovers Market. You will also find restaurants like Roco Mama's and the Dros.

Health and Fitness

Two gyms are relatively close to the area. Both Body Life and Virgin Active are located around 1,5 km from the area.

The closest hospital is located just outside the border of the suburb, namely Netcare Pholoso Hospital, which is an ultra-modern private hospital that opened its doors in 2015. Doctors 24 is a medical clinic that is located within the suburb. You will also find a few general practitioners in the area.

The suburb has its own well-establised veterinary clinic, namely Wolkberg Vet.

Estates and Developments

There are no estates in the suburb, but you will find several residential complexes. There are new developments that are planned to be established next to Sterpark. New townhouse complexes are constantly popping up within the suburb. These complexes are very popular amongst young adults.

On the highest point within Sterpark you will find the most beautiful view of Polokwane.

Business and work

There are offices and corporate businesses located around Sterpark. You will find people that run their businesses from home. Just outside the border of the area, you will find fuel stations and take away business, such as McDonald's and Romans Pizza.

The climate in Polokwane is warm and temperate. When compared with winter, the summers have much more rainfall. The climate here is classified as Cwb by the Köppen-Geiger system. The temperature here averages 18.0 °C | 64.3 °F. January is the warmest month of the year and July is the coldest month of the year. The annual rainfall is 661 mm | 26.0 inch. The driest month is July, with 3 mm | 0.1 inch of rain. In December, the precipitation reaches its peak, with an average of 137 mm | 5.4 inch.
