The Heads at a glance

The Knysna Heads are an iconic South African geological formation. The sandstone headlands of two peninsulas enclose the Knysna River Estuary and form the river mouth. There is 300 metres of water between the two headlands.

On the eastern head, you can drive through some of Knysna's most premier residential properties to the highest lookout point, offering panoramic views of the Knysna Lagoon on one side and the Indian Ocean on the other. There is also fynbos-covered farmland, and the Pezula Golf Estate lies on the seaward-facing slopes.

One can visit the western head through Featherbed Nature Reserve; this entails a boat trip and a 2.2-kilometre guided coastal walk.

Knysna Heads is an upmarket location, ideal for families and investors. If you love to entertain and are looking for a home with breathtaking views, then Knysna Heads is a superb location in a unique natural environment.
