Hillcrest has a long history that dates back to the early 1900s. The region was once a dairy farm called Albinia, owned by William Gillitt, who also gave his name to the neighbouring suburb of Gillitts.

Both novice and expert riders love the Giba Gorge Mountain Bike Park. It features numerous paths that are well defined, as well as a course of obstacles that includes ramps and bridges.
