Hillary is a suburb within the Queensburgh area which received municipality status and changed its name to Queensburgh in 1952, to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II's accession to the throne. Previously, in 1924, the area consisted of four residential townships known as Malvern, Escombe, Northdene and Moseley which combined to form the town of Malvern before becoming Queensburgh.
