A brief history of the area

Bellair forms part of Durban which was founded in 1835 on the site of Port Natal and was named for Sir Benjamin D'Urban, the governor of the Cape Colony. It became a town in 1854 and was created as a city in 1935.

King Shaka International Airport is a 29-minute drive (39,1 km) from Bellair via the N2. Bellair residents looking to reach Durban CBD can do so in 15 minutes (13,6 km) and Durban Beach within 20 minutes (17 km) via the N3.

The average temperature of the coldest month is 17.4 °C which falls in July while the warmest month is February with an average temperature of 25.5 °C. The wettest month of the year is February which sees roughly 130 mm of rainfall.
