The suburb of Brakpan North is nestled between Brakpan Central and Springs suburbs. The suburb has easy access to the M56.

Also known as Sherwood Gardens, Brakpan North was initially planned by a private company that intended to call it Frik du Preez Park which was in honour of the great Springbok rugby player.

All the streets were intended to be named after South African sportsmen and women, but the company went insolvent and the town council became responsible for the development of the suburb, naming it Brakpan North. The names of streets were not changed, but none of the sportspeople who came from Brakpan was commemorated by them.

Brakpan North boasts Sectional titles in Estates, Freeholds in Estates, established freeholds, and vacant land. Prices range from affordable housing to upmarket prices. Oaklane Estate is a secure estate that boasts modern designed homes. Located in Oaklane Estate is the sectional title estate Oaklane Mews which is ideal for the young couple looking to buy a starter home as well as looking for security.

The suburb also boasts the Sherwood shopping center which hosts Pick n Pay, Pingo's restaurant and takeaway, Pizzeria,  City Pets and grooming parlour, Stationery shop, and hardware shop. The suburb is also home to Outlaw Foods, Morniga Haven, ANP Fitment Cente, Brakpan North Sherwood Gardens Animal Clinic, and Spa Excellence.
