A brief history of the area

Rynfield is part of Benoni which was once a mining camp after the local discovery of gold in 1887. Benoni was officially declared a town in 1907. The suburb of Rynfield is also filled with some history of its own and one of its notable schools, Rynfield Primary School, officially opened in 1957, with a total of 337 learners and 10 teachers. The original school consisted of the Administration Block, the Hall, Grade 2 Block and the Senior Block, although only the upstairs classrooms were utilized.

Rynfield residents wanting to travel to O.R Tambo International Airport can do so in approximately 23 minutes (20,2 km) via the N12. It is a 53-minute drive (35,4 km)  to Johannesburg CBD and Durban is 558,4 km (6 hours 5 minutes) away.

In Rynfield, the summers are long, warm, and partly cloudy and the winters are short, cold, dry, and clear. In January, the temperature averages 19.8 °C and is the warmest month of the year while July is the coldest with an average temperature of 9.7 °C.
