Bedfordview is a thriving affluent suburb located in the east of Johannesburg. Its history dates as far back as 1867, yet it obtained its name in 1926. Bedfordview is a popular area for families who want everything nearby. The entire area spans 11.1km. It is a retail and business hub which offers a wide variety of accommodation, entertainment, restaurants, retail outlets and hotels. This suburb is known as the Sandton of the east and is popular among young business people.

Bedfordview is 14.6 km on the R24 to Johannesburg's Oliver Tambo International Airport. It is 23 minutes (21.5km) on the eastern Bypass/N3 to Sandton and 44 minutes (64.4km) via Ben Schoeman Freeway / N1 to Pretoria.

Johannesburg has an average annual temperature of 19.7°C. January is the hottest month with temperatures reaching 32°C. July is the coldest month with temperatures at an average low of 9.5°C.

Johannesburg has a subtropical climate which means almost daily rain showers during summer. This makes the city vulnerable to lightning and thunderstorms. The rainy season in Johannesburg is from October to April.

There are seven popular elite schools in the Bedfordview area. Bedfordview boasts some of Johannesburg's top schools. These include St Andrews School for girls, St Benedicts an independent catholic school for boys. Reddam House a co-ed school which offers an alternative to traditional schooling. Girls can attend Assumption College, while Crawford International Bedfordview provides personalised, mentored learning.
