Terra Nova is a leisurely village offering a peaceful way of life. It is three minutes from Trichardt (1.4 km). Trichardt is in the Mpumalanga Province and is close to the towns of Secunda and Bethal. This greater area is affectionately known as Cosmos Country for the beautiful display of flowers that are in the area towards the end of summer. It is only 10 minutes (7 km) from Secunda. Secunda is a larger town set amidst coalfields and the home of the 2,3 Billion Sasol 2. Terra Nova is Italian for new land. Terra 'land' and Nova 'new.'

Terra Nova is 10 minutes (7 km) to Secunda Mall. It is 1 hour 28 minutes to Oliver Tambo International Airport via the N17 and R21. It will take 2hrs (179 km) to Pretoria via the N17. An alternative town is Witbank which is 1 hour and 11 minutes from Terra Nova via the N17. The N17 route does have tolls.

Climate in Terra Nova

Weather in Terra Nova is a moderate climate with mild winters and warm summers. Summer is from November to March and temperatures are from 20°C reaching up to 32°C. Winter, which is from June to August, the temperature can drop down to less than 9°C. We often go into minus 1°C or 2°C or sometimes below that. The annual temperature is approximately 15.5°C.

Education in Terra Nova and surrounding areas

Schools and education facilities in the area include: Laerskool Trichardt, Trichardt Christian School. Hoërskool Secunda, an established secondary school. Hoërskool Oosterland, which has a diverse range of activities on offer. Highveld Park High School has a pleasant atmosphere, and they take pride in various sport results the pupils have achieved. There is also the Curro Independent School and Otterjasie Kleuterskool. As well as a wide range of other educational institutions from which to choose.

Shopping Centres

In Terra Nova there is the Terra Nova Village Mall, which is close to the N17 Highway. It is a leisure and hospitality centre with an OK Foods, restaurants, and iJump for the adrenalin lovers. There are also some local stores in Trichardt. For the larger retailers Secunda mall is the best choice as it has a large variety of major retailers, for example Pick and Pay, Checkers, Woolworths, Edgars. There are over ninety stories in the mall, which is within proximity to Terra Nova.

Restaurants

In Terra Nova there is the Grub House Diner, a Hamburger restaurant. And Crawdaddy's Pub & Co, a popular choice with the locals. In the larger Secunda Mall there are also many restaurants for the residents of Secunda and surrounding areas to choose from. The mall has all the well-known restaurants. Popular choices include the Oregon Spur, Cappuccinos and John Dory's. Lake Umuzi, just 1,5 km from the Secunda Mall, offers a further variety of restaurants to visit, including the ever-popular Eish! Ocean Basket and Moo Moo's.

Special Attractions

There are many activities in Secunda and the surrounding areas that families can enjoy. These include the Lake Umuzi Waterfront, with the AquaZone Waterpark, where residents can enjoy a day with family. There is also a mini golf on site. It is only 11 minutes (8.9 km) away. Bethal Dam is 22 min (28,5km) away. And Graceland Casino and Country Club is 13 minutes (10.4 km) away from Terra Nova, Trichardt.

The Terra Nova Retirement Village, is a premier highveld retirement estate development, situated close to the N17 highway. It is only ten minutes from Secunda and has approximately 110 residential units. Development is still taking place and new units are built as the need arises.
